3Liliths ~ Lilith may already have made your acquaintance. But did you know that three bodies actually bear this name? There’s asteroid Lilith, Black Moon Lilith and Dark Moon Lilith, the Earth’s hypothetical second satellite. Visit 3Liliths for the most comprehensive collection of Lilith related material that I have seen…
Age of Aquarius ~ There are few greater sources of confusion among followers of astrology, than when the Age of Aquarius actually starts. This is one of the better articles I have come across and cites Jean Meeus, a world-class expert in mathematical astronomy and celestial mechanics. Using the criteria defined by the International Astronomy Union, this date computes to 2597.
Alcohol Horoscopes ~ This week’s recommendation hasn’t had as much attention paid to it recently as certain others that have made the grade beforehand, but it’s a fun take on two subjects close to the author’s heart and prominent in her experience. I didn’t find my own horoscope very accurate but loved those for the other signs, so I wonder what this reveals about me then?
Arabian Astrology ~ The clear skies of the Middle East, enabled those living there to be early proponents of astronomy and astrology. This site claims to offer horoscopes based on an Arabic system, but I have a few doubts. My own reading was very accurate, but the same cannot be said for other folk who took a look. Also, must every sign really be synonymous with a weapon?
Art of the Zodiac ~ Probably, I ought to be on a commission before recommending Caroline Smith’s work, but this is a small selection of her output and I hope you will say who sent you. Her site showcases pictures representing each of the twelve zodiac signs, with every set sticking to a specific genre from playing cards, to Matisse and even Modigliani…
Asteroids ~ An invaluable preliminary investigation by Mark Andrew Holmes of the astrological effects of some of the more infrequently considered asteroids and centaurs. Included are interpretative discussions on such newcomers as Asbolus, Chariklo, Cruithne, Damocles, Ixion, asteroid Lilith, Quaoar, Varuna and many more.
Astro-Databank ~ The Astro-Databank is a growing database of around 35,000 sets of notable birth details. Formerly you had to buy this, the sum of a lifetime’s effort for Lois Rodden and her collaborators, but now it’s available online for free. It’s still a work in progress, but the data is often better sourced and catalogued than elsewhere too.
AstroDataBlog ~ This blog is a collaboration between two giants of astrological data collection, Sy Scolfield from Australia and Frank Clifford from the UK. It sets out to source accurate birth details for celebrities and other well-known personalities, often published for the very first time. You are bound to stumble across an interesting subject and to view them in a whole new light…
Astrogyan ~ Traditions of astrology have developed differently on the Indian subcontinent. For those unfamiliar with the cultural context, this can seem a little daunting. Astrogyan.com excels at bringing Indian astrology directly to a global audience, while also managing to do so for free. Don’t miss the great wallpaper downloads…
Astroknowlogy ~ This website uses an open source platform, as the basis for anyone to pose an astrology question and then get an answer for free. You don’t need to register to ask questions or respond to them either. The content currently is erudite, but probably soon will be saturated by people wanting a free reading with nobody willing to reply.
Astrolearn Library ~ Over many years, Philip Graves has added much to astrology on the Internet. While others indulged a self-congratulatory round of backslapping that has proven increasingly irrelevant; studiously embracing lucrative sidelines and the consignment of “serious” astrology to the lunatic fringe: this guy has stuck to his principles and needs cash like everybody else…
Astrology & Astronomy in Iran ~ The region known nowadays as the Islamic Republic of Iran has played an integral role in the development of modern astrology, because of its proximity to ancient Mesopotamia and Babylon. Presently, this country blocks all Internet content unsuited to its world view, while sponsoring cyberattacks against those writing horoscopes for example.
Astrology in Iran & Mesopotamia ~ The second in a short series of recommendations, detailing an illustrious heritage from this part of the world and the debt we owe it today. It is a shame that traffic to my website from this region is both unremitting and entirely malicious, with access to half of the world’s most popular websites blocked for Iranian citizens by their government…
Astrology & Food ~ After last week’s recommendation of recipes for the twelve zodiac signs, I stumbled across this feature by Celestial Living Arts that’ll help take the subject further. From their quick reference recipe chart, through the birthsigns of celebrity chefs and the opportunity to submit your own preferences and data, there is lots to keep you busy.
Astrology & Science ~ This website features a selection of articles covering a range of approaches with a common theme, the study of astrology from an empirical perspective and the efforts made to discover whether it really works or not. To be frank that’s an issue I’ve addressed long ago, but it’s good to see someone assemble the evidence…
Astrology Critics ~ Cosmin Ursulescu continues the tradition of intelligent astrology websites from Romania, with his own contribution that seeks to review some of astrology’s most weighty tomes, so you can decide if you need them or not. He has more plans too and is seeking personal feedback, so go and talk about yourself for a while, okay?
Astrology Images ~ This site has not been updated for a while, but has been tended carefully beforehand by its webmaster Ivan Wilhelm, from Sweden. It is still a great source of all kinds of astrological imagery, from medieval diagrams, to contemporary representations of zodiac symbols and Rennaissance pictures of astrologers at work.
